Hello everyone and welcome back to the Kapil Gupta Career Pod Show, your one-stop destination for career advice, self-improvement, and future success. And I'm your host, Kapil Gupta. And today we're talking about something that can literally change your life. Continuous learning. And now, before you say, Oh no, not another lecture on studying. Hold on. This is not about boring textbooks or cramming formulas. This is about learning beyond school, beyond degrees, and beyond age. It's about how learning can be fun, rewarding, and even profitable. Ever wondered how Elon Musk went from coding video games as a kid to running Tesla and SpaceX? And how Virat Kohli keeps reinventing his game? The answer is continuous learning. They didn't just stop after one success. They kept learning, improving, and evolving. You know that feeling when you are scrolling through Instagram and suddenly you realize everyone seems to be achieving something epic while you are just existing. Well, guess what? The secret source to leveling up isn't some magic formula, it's continuous learning. Think about it, your favorite YouTubers, entrepreneurs, and even those TikTok stars you follow, they're all constantly learning and evolving. As Taylor Swift once said, I'm doing better than I ever was. And that's exactly what continuous learning is all about. So let's dive into why learning never really stops and why Gen Z, millennials, and even boomers should embrace it. Buckle up, because by the end of this episode, you'll be ready to take your learning game to the next level. And before we dive in, let me share a mind-blowing start. Did you know that 85% of the jobs that will exist in 2030 haven't even been invented yet? Wild? Right. And that's why staying stuck in your comfort zone is literally so 2020. So now let's break it down. That what even is continuous learning? You know how you automatically update your phone's apps? Well, continuous learning is like updating your brain software. It's not just about sitting in a classroom or watching YouTube tutorials, though that's also part of it. Simply put, continuous learning means never stopping your quest for knowledge. It's about developing new skills, improving old ones, and adapting to the changing world. Einstein dropped some serious wisdom when he said, Once you stop learning, you start dying. No pressure, but he wasn't wrong. Continuous learning comes in different flavors. Let's say formal learning. Think school, college, or those certification courses your parents keep bugging you about. And then informal learning. Learning from YouTube, podcasts, of course like this one, books, and even trial and error. And then comes non-formal learning, workshops, internships, and online courses that are structured but not as rigid as formal education. So now let's picture this. You're learning how to make that viral butter chicken recipe from Instagram. Now that's informal learning right there. Or when you're figuring out how to edit your videos better for social media, now that's continuous learning in action. So now let's talk about why continuous learning is literally the main character energy you need in your life. So that's actually why should we care? So first up, personal growth. As BTS's RM said, the only thing that matters is living a life with no regrets. So learning helps you become that person you see in your manifestation. Continuous learning makes you a better version of yourself. Imagine if Sachantalkar had stopped practicing after his first century, would he have become a cricket legend? Nope. In fact, I have heard that when he was in the team and he was already treated as a legend, he was the one who used to practice the most even in his bedroom, that is in his hotel room. So see the struggle, see the effort, and see the self-discipline he had, and that is why he is a legend today. So learning keeps your brain sharp, improves confidence, and helps you develop a growth mindset. Career opportunities say less. Companies are looking for people who can adapt faster than Sonic the Hedgehog. The job market today is brutal. A college degree alone is not enough. Companies want employees who are upskilling. Let's say a marketing professional who learns digital marketing and AI tools is more in demand. A doctor who updates himself on latest treatments becomes a better practitioner and a software engineer who picks up new coding languages, gets better job offers. So the more you learn, the more doors open up. It's like having cheat codes for your career. And remember Nokia? Blockbuster or even Orchid? They didn't adapt and they vanished. The world is changing at lightning speed. New technologies, new job roles, new industries. So continuous learners stay ahead while others struggle to catch up. So no wonder. Remember, when everyone was suddenly talking about AI and Chat GPT, the people who jumped on that train early are now the ones teaching others and making bank. And that's what we call being adaptable. Problem solving skills? Enhanced? You become like that one friend who always knows what to do in a crisis. As Michelle Obama said, when they go low, we go high. And trust me, nothing helps you higher than constantly upgrading your skills. So, okay, let's address the elephant in the room. The traditional education. And believe me, academia isn't dead. And before you scroll past this section, hear me out. Staying updated in your field is like maintaining your social media presence. You can't just post once and ghost your followers for a year. The same applies to your chosen field of study. Let's say you are into design, the tools and trends from just two years ago. Totally chucky now. That's why continuous learning in academia is crucial. And even if you're still in school or college, continuous learning gives you a huge advantage. Bill Gates drops this truth bomb. The world won't care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something before you feel good about yourself. So true. Learning beyond your syllabus through certifications, online courses, or research projects makes you stand out. Want to crack J, Neat, UPSC or CAT? Continuous learning and strategic planning are the keys. Even after landing a job, higher studies and certifications can boost your career growth. Let me share a tip by Steve Martin. Be so good they can't ignore you. So, welcome to the digital age when learning is just a click away. Gone are the days when you needed to enroll in expensive courses to gain new skills. Gen Z, we literally have the world at our fingertips. Our parents had to walk to libraries, but we've got everything on our phones. So let's talk about some absolute game changers. Khan Academy, Coursera, Udemy, edX, Skillshare, you name it, they have it. Apps like Duolingo for languages, Brilliant for logic math, and Blinkist for book summaries make learning quick and fun. AIN coding courses are in huge demand. Platforms like Google Garage, MIT OpenCourseWare, and Code Academy offer free resources. And here's a fun fact even Bill Gates watches educational lectures in his free time. And if he can, why not you? So let's discuss some learnings beyond the classroom. Because school and college teach you the basics, but real learning happens beyond textbooks. Extracurricular activities like sports, drama, debates build confidence in teamwork, internships and part-time jobs teach real world skills and workplace etiquette. Then volunteering and social work develop leadership skills and social awareness. The real world values practical knowledge more than just grades. And the biggest difference between successful people and average people is their mindset. A fixed mindset would be I can't do this. And a growth mindset would be I can't do this yet. Exactly. So let me share an example. Michael Jordan was cut from his high school basketball team. Did he give up? No. He worked harder and became a legend. So here's a tip. Failure is just a feedback. Keep learning to keep growing. Learning is fun. But let's be real. It's not always easy. So here are some common obstacles. People say, I have no time. And then some would say no motivation. And then there comes, oh I get bored. Let me share a few practical tips for continuous learning. Make learning a daily habit. Even 10 to 15 minutes counts. Read books, listen to podcasts, watch TED Talks, create a learning schedule and stick to it. Explore different fields. You never know what might interest you. And remember, the struggle you're facing today is building the strength you need for tomorrow. And as Alan Musk once said, you don't need college to learn something. The internet has all the knowledge for free. So now let me share how networking and learning from others contribute to continuous learning. As Jim Ron said, you are the average of the five people you spend the most time with. So if you want to learn and grow, surround yourself with motivated and intelligent people. Join student clubs, online communities, LinkedIn groups, and professional forums. Find a mentor, someone who has already achieved what you want. So the way we learn is evolving rapidly. In the future, we'll see AI-powered personalized learning, virtual reality classrooms, skill-based hiring, replacing degree-based hiring. So the world is changing fast, and those who keep learning will always have an edge. So be curious, adaptable, and open to new knowledge. And as we wrap up this episode, your homework. Yes, you heard that right. Take one small step today and read an article, watch a TED Talk, or start an online course. Just do something new. Remember what Zendaya said. You've got to take risks. We will only understand the miracle of life fully when we allow the unexpected to happen. The future of learning is as unpredictable as TikTok trends, but that's what makes it exciting. Whether you're learning through AR, VR, or whatever comes next, the key is to stay curious and keep that growth mindset. And I would love to hear from you what's one new skill or topic you want to learn. DM me on Instagram, LinkedIn, or drop a comment below. If you found this episode helpful, share it with your friends and don't forget to hit that follow button. And if you wish to connect with me, there's a link in the description of the podcast as well. So remember, as Blackpink says, born to be the story. So go out there and write your own chapter in the book of success. And this is your host signing off. So until next time, keep learning, keep growing, and most importantly, keep leveling up your life. Thank you.
