Hello, my dear listeners, and welcome to another episode of the Kapal Gupta Career Pod Show. Today I'm delving into a topic that is very close to India's middle class, the most hardworking class. And my listeners will agree that it's the most deprived class too, with big dreams and limited means. And one such dream is the best education and successful career for the kids. Now this dream begins to take shape when they try to seek admission in the best schools of the city they reside in. And as the years pass by, they live their dream in the growing child. And then comes the time of stream selection. They try to opt for the best dream that can give the best career to their child. They research different institutes. Many proactive ones even get their kids admitted to these high profile institutes in class eighth itself. The parents feel these institutes have the power to put an engine to their dreams. And finally, the time of board exams come. The results are declared of the boards and the different exams, and many sail through, but many don't. And the dream of the family comes crashing down. They feel helpless. Today, I wish to give a ray of hope, a solution to all such parents. All of you can connect with me to begin the process. Hello all. So now let's talk about a few facts with you. Do you know India has the largest higher education system in the world in terms of the number of institutions? According to the All India Survey on Higher Education 2021-22, India had 1,168 universities, 45,473 colleges, 12,000 standalone institutions, 15.98 lakh faculty members, and 4.33 crore students enrolled in a higher education system. And despite such a large student base, a gross enrollment ratio in higher education is just 28.4%, and the world average is around 40%. Further, none of our higher educational institutions are in the global ranking of top 100 institutions, a list dominated by universities from the US, UK, Canada, and Australia. Though I would say now some universities are catching up. Everyone would agree that this disparity is because of a large population. And apart from that, we have a huge number who aren't able to get admission because of Marx. And now I wish to float an idea to all the middle class families. Why not try sending your child abroad to a foreign university? I know you must be wondering from where the money will come. Studying abroad has long been considered a privilege reserved for the wealthy elite, but recent research and efforts in the education sector have challenged this notion. In this refutation of the myth that studying abroad is beyond the reach of the middle class, will help you delve into the various options and opportunities available to make international study programs financially feasible for middle class individuals. Moreover, the idea that studying abroad is only accessible to the wealthy fails to consider the rising demand for educational opportunities in developing countries. And the participation of female students has increased multifold. You'll be surprised to know that for every hundred males, 113 females are exploring their journey abroad. And the number of students who are pursuing education abroad has increased three times in the last two decades. And this podcast will be an eye-opener for the middle class that dreams of the best education for their children. And let me inform you: just like we have public and private institutions with a huge variation in fee structure, the same is the case abroad. We have all types of options available. There are public universities abroad, for example in Germany, that give almost 100% scholarship and the tuition fee. Then the law permits students to do internships so that they can fund their expenses. Overall, I wish to say that even abroad, the cost variation is huge, from a few lakhs to crores. And contrary to popular belief, the notion that studying abroad is beyond the reach of the middle class is a myth. Research has shown that there are various options and opportunities available to make studying abroad financially feasible for middle class individuals. While there may be a gap between aspirations and opportunities available for middle class students, they still critique the unequal distribution of educational opportunities and strive to find ways to make studying abroad a reality. And with the increasing emphasis on diversity and inclusivity in education, many institutions and organizations have implemented scholarship programs, financial aid options, and affordable student exchange programs to support middle class students in pursuing their academic goals abroad. And in conclusion, the evidence presented strongly refutes the myth that studying abroad is beyond the reach of the middle class. The research and initiatives highlighted demonstrate a commitment to addressing social imbalances and providing equal access to international study programs for middle class students. And with the implementation of scholarship programs, financial aid options, and affordable student exchange programs, studying abroad is increasingly becoming a realistic and feasible opportunity for individuals from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds. As the education sector continues to emphasize diversity and inclusivity, the barriers to studying abroad for the middle class are gradually being dismantled, paving the way for a more equitable and accessible higher education landscape. Lastly, I shall say studying abroad is also for the middle class. The gates are open. We just have to enter. And if you have questions, suggestions, or just want to say hello, feel free to reach out.
