Every year the competition for university places begins again with top students from all over the world battling for acceptances. But as applications pile up in admission offices, what can students do to stand out? What qualities are universities looking for in personal statements and interviews? So today I'm going to share the five qualities that should be portrayed by the students who seek admission in foreign universities. I believe this will help you a great deal in achieving your goal. So please bring in your pen and paper and note down all the points. Until then, I shall wait for you. Now I believe all of you are ready to note down these points. So let's get started. Point number one that is true enthusiasm for the chosen course. Now, students must have real passion for the subject they are applying to. And a university is hard work and it's called higher education, of course, for a reason. Because it's like a step up. So students must be able to show commitment to the chosen course. Students should aim to demonstrate that they should thrive on studying the subject, that their interest continues outside of the classroom or outside of school even. Now clear ambition and genuine enthusiasm will convince any admission team that a student is a contender. Second, independent thought and study. Now at university, students are expected to engage with their studies and develop original opinions and perspectives. Now it isn't enough to know facts or just you know take information from Google, internet. Now that's not enough. Because students who aren't used to thinking for themselves or with originality rarely do well. So it's also essential that applicants are able to demonstrate good time management and independent study skills. And university admissions teams are looking for students who are actually ready to step into university life. So if they receive an application which doesn't demonstrate how a student has prepared, that student might not make the cut. So point number three, good written English. Now, as we know, language is the key, right? It actually empowers you with it, it's part of your personality. So it might sound simple, but admission offices receive so many applications that spelling and grammar can really make a difference. Now mistakes suggest a lack of care or attention on the student's part and they tend to hinder any message they were trying to communicate. So it's also worth mentioning that the best applications use language which is clear and concise. Now applications should be easy to read and informative. Many students think that you know flexing their vocabulary will show off their smarts, but really they're just making things harder to the reader. So finally, it's important to check, check, and check again. Applicants should ask as many people as they can to proofread their work, and even then, an application should only be sent off when it's polished to perfection. Then point number four, that is collaboration and teamwork. Now, universities want to accept students who will contribute to their overall community. Not only this, but collaborative thinking and being a constructive member of the class. And it also means sports and activities. So if a student is a kind of candidate who would be keen to represent their university on the football ground, or you can say in some debates or let's say some art competition, so he should be able to demonstrate that skill in the application itself. And of course, it'll be great if that skill is certified, so that is it can be proven. So admission officers will recognize them as actually a team player. Then point number five that is dedication and perseverance. Now success requires endurance, and universities are looking for students who will go that extra mile. Now taking the initiative to read around classroom studies, taking on a part-time job to learn about responsibility, perhaps even overcoming personal obstacles to access a good education. Now these are all recognizable qualities of a student who knows how to work. Now the best applications show how much the application applicant wants that acceptance and how they would dedicate themselves to being the best person and the best candidate they can be. So to conclude, that what gets you admitted there? That the most important thing to remember when writing an application is that universities want to accept students. Now they are hoping the applicants will tick all these boxes and they are always on the side of a student who has clearly worked hard. So excellent extracurricular activities that demonstrate leadership, commitment, passion, time management, and of course a warm interpersonal relationship with others in a team-building setting. Now glowing hot letters of recommendation that attest to all of that. So colleges want happy students who like many people and who are liked by many people and who contribute something major to the college's undergraduate community. So if an application highlights these five qualities, university admission officers find their job much easier. So I hope you find this podcast useful.
