It is said that do not look for jobs, but build your careers. Career building involves career planning, and as you all know, planning is a very critical process. It should be undertaken very carefully. And this is a decision of a lifetime. So every student should plan his or her career path prudently. Today I'm going to tell eight steps that would help you create a career path for you. So please bring in your pen and paper and note down all the steps. Till that time, I'll wait for you. Today I am going to introduce you to an eight-steps template. I believe all of you are ready to note down the steps. So let's get started. If you need to pause the podcast to note down, please do that. So, first step. As a first step, one should analyze one's aspirations and objectives, their fields or professions which are satisfying or rewarding financially and emotionally. For example, one might like to travel or do cooking or work for the society. Then in step number two, one should select and narrow down one's options to careers based on their areas of interest. For example, it can be journalism, travel guide, chef, social worker, any anything that you like. And with all this done comes step number three. So next step should be a decision based on one's monetary aim. Undoubtedly, money is a great motivator. You might find people say that money is not everything, but personally, I disagree. Only a millionaire has a right to say this. The rest of the people must earn it first. Then coming to step number four. As these objectives are clearly defined, one should then do researches on the kind of educational or professional skill requirements for one's chosen options. They should always be done while keeping a clear focus on one's aptitude, personality traits, strengths, and weaknesses. So we have completed four steps out of eight. And it's great you have been listening till now. So let me give you a quick recap. Step one, to analyze different careers based on one's aspirations and life objectives. Step two, to narrow down the career options based on areas of interest. Step three was about monetary aim, and step four was to research about educational and professional requirements. Great. Now let's get on to step number five. So the next logical step is to set out to obtain the required skills and training. If any specialized degree or certification is required, one should definitely work towards attaining it. Then after completing one's education, you should aim at trying to get placement assistance from one's university or looking out for opportunities in one specialized field in our step number six. And networking with people belonging to that field could be a very valuable resource. And social media platform LinkedIn is a great networking site for professional networking. So one must learn actually how to use it. Then in step number seven, initially, one will get an entry-level position because, of course, we are a fresher. So, however, one should try opting for a position in which one can train for one's dream position. A great way to do is that to actually perform the assigned work diligently and learning the intricacies of the trade in the process. One should be careful not to project an image of someone who switches jobs very frequently to climb up the career ladder because this will go down very negative. And your resume. And lastly, a periodic review of one's career path is essential. Sometimes, with exposure and experience, your priorities and interests may undergo a change. So, due to constant technological changes too, some new specialized careers might emerge in one's field of work and one might find oneself to be most suited for that change. So, any career path should have that flexibility. I hope you find this podcast useful. If yes, please subscribe to this podcast on Apple Spotify to get notified.
